Staff at Plastic Card Services (PCS) are celebrating after scooping the coveted Company of the Year (up to £5 million) prize at the 2012 British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF) Excellence Awards.
PCS, which provides plastic cards and associated services from its headquarters in Macclesfield, Cheshire, was presented with the prestigious accolade after judges recognised the company as the print business with best all-round market performance.
Commenting on the PCS entry, the judges said: “Plastic Card Services were a clear winner showing a detailed strategy for growth – not just in finding new export markets but also by controlling their cost of sales, whilst simultaneously investing in new equipment designed to improve efficiency and their environmental footprint.”
Rob Nicholls, MD at PCS, added: “This award is a direct result of the team’s hard work and dedication to achieving excellence across every aspect of our business. We have a strong belief that there should be value in print, rather than a ‘more, faster, cheaper’ approach, so have made a commitment to investing in systems, processes, and new product design and technology in order to provide the best possible service to our customers.
“We do not pitch ourselves as head-to-head competitors with mobile app producers, but instead envisage ourselves working in conjunction with them. We predict that contactless RFID chip cards (like the Oyster Card) will become more prevalent within the retail environment, with interactive point of sale signage and product packaging potentially offering a way to display real time, personalised offers to the customer as they move around the store.”
“This approach has enabled us to bring genuine innovations to market and build excellent, long lasting client relationships.”
The annual BPIF Excellence Awards were created to benchmark business acumen in the print sector, rewarding and showcasing the most innovative and creative companies across the print media spectrum.
