Leading commercial card manufacturer, Plastic Card Services (PCS), has achieved the coveted ISO 27001 accreditation.
ISO 27001 is internationally-recognised information security management system (ISMS) standard.
It sets out a framework of best practice measures for safeguarding any information a company may handle and store. This covers everything from computer databases to physical records in the form of letters, CDs or faxes. It also covers the security of, and access to, business premises.
The certification is already helping the company acquire new clients who need audited compliance in this area.
The accreditation follows six months of substantial investment by PCS in its IT infrastructure, including the overhaul of cabling and routers, upgrading backup servers and replacing older hardware and software.
PCS has also established expert partnerships to outsource certain business critical systems and put in place a new training programme to educate all staff about their responsibilities in terms of information security. The new company policies and practices will ensure that standards remain high.
