PCS has been crowned champions at the 2019 Digital Printer Awards for its market leading web-to-print site the Plastic Card Hub.
Users can price, design and order their cards online for delivery in just a few days, and with a variety of different card formats available in both fully recyclable and Eco Degradable PVC visitors can easily find something suitable for their needs. As well as handling variable data, additional features such as signature panels, magnetic stripes, contactless chips and barcodes can also be added to designs.
The judges commented, “The Plastic Card Hub is a genuinely new option to market, utilising digital and web to print to benefit customers and create a wider market.”
As part of our long-term growth strategy, PCS created a brand-new digital production facility housing state of the art equipment. In addition to selecting the very best in card production and finishing equipment, we ensured that each piece was compatible with our existing manufacturing lines, allowing us to double our overall output to 160 million cards per year, acting as a real step change for the business.
To complement and enhance its digital offering, PCS has also created a web-to-print platform www.plasticcardhub.co.uk – a first for the market – which allows customers to price, design and upload artwork as well as buy cards online and receive them in just a few days.
PCS Managing Director Adam Unsworth said, “At PCS we always strive to be at the fore of the plastic card market, we knew the demand for shorter-run work was there from our existing customers and the investment in a digital facility was a natural next step for the firm.”
Within its first year of launch, the Plastic Card Hub in combination with the state-of-the-art digital production facility has seen PCS increase the number of digital orders it produces by an unprecedented 75%, and possibly, more importantly, has demonstrated a 23% rise in turnover that can be attributed to this shorter run digital work.
