Cheshire-based Plastic Card Services (PCS), has won the Best Direct Mail category at the 2011 Print & Design Awards.

The commercial card manufacturer scooped the award for the Coop DanmarkPlus Loyalty scheme ‘bio’ card mailer. Two million mailers were produced and distributed by PCS for Denmark’s largest retailer – reaching every household in Denmark.

The Print & Design Awards celebrate print companies that embrace quality and creativity in production. The two main criteria that the judges were looking at were print excellence and originality of design within the printed piece.

The judges described PCS’s winning entry as a ‘great example of a targeted and highly personalised mailing’ that has generated a substantial return on investment. The winner implemented a bespoke set of systems and developed software to manage the complex, high volume requirements of this successful campaign. As an aside, the campaign was also at the forefront of environmentally sustainable direct mailing.

On winning the award, PCS Managing Director, Rob Nicholls said: “It is a great achievement for PCS. The Coop Danmark Loyalty card has been a milestone project for us as it was the first one to use biodegradable materials and waterless print technology. The accolade reflects the commitment and hard work of our team, the quality of our offering and the strong partnership we have with Coop Danmark.”
