Smart cards are widely used in many industries and are so versatile that you can be sure they’ll be useful for any number of situations. With contact and contactless options available, Plastic Card Services have a range of solutions to meet your needs, whatever they may be.

Smart cards are plastic cards with a chip in them to let them store, manage and access information for a number of things, whether it’s to authorise entry to a location, complete a transaction of various kinds or more. They require a reader to work and scan what the card is used for but these are easily maintained devices and the cards can be reprogrammed with ease.

RFID technology is used to make smart cards contactless, where they only have to be in close proximity to the reader to work and this can be a lot quicker and easier than traditional contact smart cards. However, it’s worth remembering that the RFID signal cannot be turned off and blocking sleeves are a worthwhile investment to protect any data from being captured. This is especially important if any sensitive information is stored on the card.
